Dear Mulatsih
Hi, friend. How are you? I hope everything in Jember is fine. I wrote this letter to tell you about my holiday in Semarang. I went to Semarang last school holiday. I wentt there with my family but my elder sister didn't join us because she had some short term classes in her college. It was very hot in Semarang.
We visited a lot of beautiful places in Semarang. I even visited the famous Lawang Sewu Building. It was spooky but it was also beautiful. But don't worry, I didn't see any ghost in that building. We also tried some traditional food, such as tahu petis, lumpia basah Semarang. They were all delicious, especially the tahu petis.
We stayed there for three days. We had to go back to Cimahi because my father had a very important meeting in his office. I hope I can visit Semarang again next year.
That's all from me this time. Write me back will you. Tell me about your holiday experience.

Once settled in, I was dressed up in local costume and went with the family to the local "hall' where I was treated to food, drinks, and plenty of music and dancing! The Prambanan Temple
Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple compound in Central Java on Indonesia, located approximately 18 km east of Yogyakarta. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the largest Hindu temples in south-east Asia. It is characterised by its tall and pointed architecture, typical of Hindu temple architecture, and by the 47m high central building inside a large complex of individual temples.
It was built around 850 CE by either Rakai Pikatan, king of the second Mataram dynasty, or Balitung Maha Sambu, during the Sanjaya Dynasty. Not long after its construction, the temple was abandoned and began to deteriorate. Reconstruction of the compound began in 1918. The main building was completed in around 1953. Much of the original stonework has been stolen and reused at remote construction sites. A temple will only be rebuilt if at least 75% of the original stones are available, and the therefore only the foundation walls of most of the smaller shrines are now visible and with no plans for their reconstruction.
The temple was damaged during the earthquake in Java in 2006. Early photos suggest that although the complex appears to be structurally intact, damage is significant. Large pieces of debris, including carvings, were scattered over the ground. The temple has been closed to the public until damage can be fully accessed. The head of Yogyakarta Archaeological Conservation Agency stated that: "it will take months to identify the precise damage". However, some weeks later in 2006 the site re-opened for visitors. The immediate surroundings of the Hindu temples remain off-limits for safety reasons.

Once upon a time there was a man and his wife and they had a ring of gold. It was a lucky ring, and whoever owned it always had enough to live on. But this they did not know, and hence sold the ring for a small sum. But no sooner was the ring gone than they began to grow poorer and poorer, and at last did not know when they would get their next meal. They had a dog and a cat, and these had to go hungry as well. Then the two animals took counsel together as to how they might restore to their owners their former good fortune. At length the dog hit upon an idea.
"They must have the ring back again," he said to the cat.
The cat answered: "The ring has been carefully locked up in the chest, where no one can get at it."
"You must catch a mouse," said the dog, "and the mouse must gnaw a hole in the chest and fetch out the ring. And if she does not want to, say that you will bite her to death, and you will see that she will do it."
This advice pleased the cat, and she caught a mouse. Then she wanted to go to the house in which stood the chest, and the dog came after. They came to a broad river. And since the cat could not swim, the dog took her on his back and swam across with her. Then the cat carried the mouse to the house in which the chest stood. The muse gnawed a hole in the chest, and fetched out the ring. The cat put the ring in her mouth and went back to the river, where the dog was waiting for her, and swam across with her. They started out together for home, in order to bring the lucky ring to their master and mistress. But the dog could only run along the ground; when there was a house in the way he always had to go around it. The cat, however, quickly climbed over the roof, and so she reached home long before the dog, and brought the ring to her master.
Then her master said to his wife: "What a good creature the cat is! We will always give her enough to eat and care for her as though she were our own child!"
But when the dog came home they beat him, because he had not helped to bring home the ring again. And the cat sat by the fireplace, purred and said never a word. Then the dog grew angry at the cat, because she had robbed him of his reward, and when he saw her he chased her and tried to seize her.

Bats are the only flying animals. They give birth to live young and nourish them with milk. Bats are nocturnal; they are most active at night and sleep during the day hanging upside down. They are found in all types of habitats all around the world except at the poles.
There are over 900 different species of bats. The smallest bat is the bumblebee bat (with a wingspan of 6 inches=15 cm, weighing less than a penny); the biggest bat is the flying fox bat (with a wingspan of 6 feet-1.8 m, weighing 2 pounds=1 kg). During the cold winter, some bats migrate to a warmer area. Some bats (like the brown bat) hibernate during the cold of winter, sleeping very deeply until warm weather arrives.
Bats belong to the class Mammalia (mammals) and the order Chiroptera (bats). There are two types of bats that differ in their diet and in the way they sense and obtain food. Bats are divided into:
• Microchiropterans: These bats use echolocation to find insects and small animals to eat. While flying, these bats send out high-pitched sounds that bounce off other objects. The bat listens for the bounced sound, and can determine where objects are located. People cannot hear these high-pitched sounds. Some Microchiropterans are the vampire bat and the frog-eating bat. The vampire bat is the only bat (and the only mammal) that eats only blood. It makes a small hole with its two very sharp incisor teeth and laps up the blood, which doesn't clot because of anti-coagulants in the bat's saliva.
• Megachiropterans: These large bats use the sense of smell to find their food, fruit and/or nectar. Some Megachiropterans are the fruit bat and the blossom bat.

The shallot is a botanical variety of the species Allium cepa, to which the multiplier
onion also belongs. Shallots probably originated in Central or Southeast Asia, travelling from there to India and the eastern Mediterranean. Like garlic, shallots are formed in clusters of offsets with a head composed of multiple cloves. The skin colour of shallots can vary from golden brown to gray to rose red, and their off-white flesh is usually tinged with green or magenta.
Shallots are extensively cultivated for culinary uses. Shallots are used in fresh cooking in addition to being pickled. Finely sliced, deep-fried shallots are used as a condiment in Asian cuisine, often served with porridge. As a species of Allium, shallots taste somewhat like a common onion, but have a milder flavour. Like onions and garlic, when sliced, raw shallots release substances that irritate the eye, resulting in production of tears.
Indians use it as a home remedy for sore throats, mixed with jaggery or sugar. Applying shallot juice (with salt) on forehead is the most popular Indian remedy for headache by crushing shallots with salt and apply on forehead.
